Arc the Lad begins with a lad named Arc, naturally, who sets out from his small hometown of Touvil to fulfill his foretold destiny as a hero (by the way, I'm going to have to chew the scenery here a little. The game made me do it...). Bad stuff is afoot, ever since his neighbor Kukuru put out the Flame Cion, the shrine what holds back the hideous evil up on the nearby mountain. It doesn't begin or end with the Flame Cion, though -- the story was set in motion by the death of Arc's father ten years before, and which may very well end with the end of the world. This being an RPG, the end of the world is what you have to do something about.
