Rape Revenge movies is een genre dat zijn hoogtepunt tijdens de jaren 70 had. Een paar voorbeelden van de beste Rape Revenge movies zijn; Last House on the Left, I Spit on your Grave, I Spit on Your Corpse, I Piss on Your Grave, Thriller - A Cruel Picture en vele anderen. Het is een genre wat veel kritiek heeft gekregen. Rape Revenge movies volgen over het algemeen een vrij duidelijk plot. In de eerste instantie wordt het slachtoffer verkracht, mishandeld en voor dood achtergelaten. In de meeste gevallen is het slachtoffer echter niet dood en komt de mishandeling te boven zinnend op wraak. De films sluiten af met de vaak expliciete wraakscènes. De kritiek die het genre over zich heen heeft gekregen is dat deze films alleen maar een reden zijn om verkrachtingen en expliciet geweld naar het scherm te brengen. Door de vele kritiek en het veranderen van de ?markt? is het genre zo?n beetje een stilaan doodgebloed, totdat ene Reinert Kiil in 2008 besloot om zijn visie op een Rape Revenge movie te maken.
2009 is het jaar dat zijn visie genaamd Hora het grote publiek weet te bereiken. Op zich is dit al bijzonder wat Reinert Kiil is een Noorse filmmaker. Noorwegen staat namelijk niet bekend om zijn exploitation cinema. Dit is onder andere een reden dat Hora bekendheid heeft gekregen en buiten Noorwegen om te zien is. Men is benieuwd naar exploitation uit een land waar dit zo goed als onbekend is.
Hora volgt zoals te verwachten het vaste recept van een Rape Revenge movie. Meisje wordt verkracht, komt dit te boven en neemt wraak. Verder plotuitweiding hoef ik over deze film niet te geven. Maakt dit Hora dan een 13 in een dozijn film? Ja en nee. Ja, want we weten wat we als kijker te zien krijgen en ook hoe we dit te zien gaan krijgen. Nee, want Reinert heeft zijn eigen visie op het genre gegeven en heeft dit genre dan ook op zijn eigen manier onder handen genomen. Door middel van knap camerawerk, belichting, montage en geluid krijgt de film dat extra elementom boven de gemiddelde rape revenge movie te stijgen.
