“Although their only album is more a melange of interesting elements than a coherent whole, the Rockets' sole release does make for enjoyable, occasionally intriguing listening. Danny Whitten's "Won't You Say You'll Stay" has a downbeat introspection, and imaginative baroque'n'roll production (with harpsichords and gun-shot drum effects), that most likely appealed to Neil Young. The compositions by George and Leon Whitsell were more straightforward than the somewhat goofy, spacy musingsof Whitten, sometimes digging into a pretty respectable soul-rock vibe; "I Won't Always Be Around" sounds like a white Impressions.
